[M19 MADMAL]

Hello,

Can anyone help with the 'weapon' shown below?
It is a "6 cm Abschussrohr" and is believed to fire the 6cm Leuchtgeschoss 60 which had the cone on the end (LG60 M?) and not the long tail version.

Also did these star shells/parachute flares come in different colours?

The photo shows it being used in German Army Infantry Strongpoint Rotenstein on Guernsey.

The "long tail" was illum only, the "short one" was signal (only red). The launcher was a naval weapon.

The photo was taken in late 1944. After the fall of Normandy and Brittany in 1944 a lot of Kriegsmarine vessels became trapped in the German Occupied Channel Islands or came here to escape the Allied advance and the ships were laid up due to lack of fuel and all armament removed and used to bolster land defences around the Islands including the 6cm Abschussrohr. The sailors were retrained as infantry and distributed on land as well.
