    Default polnische 7,92x57 Farbmarkierungen

    Hallo,
    Kennt sich jemand aus was die Farbmarkierungen bei der polnischen Munition bedeuten? Welche Geschoßsorten wurden hergestellt?

    According to this site, http://poszukiwania.pl/polska-amunic...57-mauser.html following combat cartridges were produced from 1922 to 1939:

    1. light projectile "S" - black ring around the primer;
    2. heavy projectile "SC" - green ring around the primer;
    3. heavy projectile "SC" and bigger load for acceptance trials - white ring around the primer;
    4. long range projectile "D" - violet ring around the primer;
    5. AP projectile "P" - red ring around the primer;
    6. AP red tracer projectile "PS" - blue ring around the primer, blue projectile tip;
    7. incendiary projectile "Z" for ground troops, yellow ring around the primer, black projectile;
    8. incendiary projectile "Z" for aviation, yellow ring around the primer, yellow projectile tip;
    9. HE (spotting) projectile "W" - black ring around the primer, red projectile tip.

    Ich kenne Nr. 6 noch mit schwarzer Rfg & schwarzer Spitze aus den frühen 1930er Jahren. Wann wurde da umgestellt?

    I think both tip colours can be correct. In theory, PS cartridge (which was intended exclusively for aviation) had blue ring around the primer plus black projectile tip, which actually was painted blue. Colour of the tracer light could be both red or green.
    As I see, also the marking of the Z cartridge given above is incorrect. Z ammunition for ground and aerial use was differentiated on the boxes only, while cartridges were marked identically - with yellow ring around the primer, while the projectile was initially all black, what was changed to a yellow tip somewhere in the 1930s to simplify production. The Z projectile was producing a trail of white smoke in flight.
